When Avutec contacted Studio Mango they had developed a camera module including a printed circuit board which was able to recognize license plates of cars. They wanted to use this technology in a camera to be named the Gatekeeper which could be installed at parking areas to automate who has acces to the area.

For the sensitive electronics to remain running 24/7 in all weather conditions an IP67 enclosure needed to be developed which can even be submerged under water without any leakage.  The cooling of the internal electronics inside this enclosed housing was an additional challenge, through the smart design of heatsinks and use of investment casted aluminum it was engineered in such a way that it dissipates heat quickly.

Already installed on the parking areas of a few large office buildings in the Netherlands to control the daily access of thousands of vehicles we expect to see many more Gatekeepers in the years to come.
